Bradford, VT – OESU is pleased to announce that Randall (Randy) Gawel will join the Supervisory Union as the new Assistant Superintendent.
“It is the people – not books, not brick and mortar, not state mandates – striving towards a common purpose that makes education a magical process,” says Randy who plans to bring his expertise to the SU on July 1, 2021.
Although Randy will be moving from Michigan where he has been for the last 24 years, at heart he is a New Englander. He is originally from Franconia, New Hampshire and attended Lyndon State for his B.A. in English and Boston College for his M.Ed. in Secondary Education – Curriculum and Instruction. During his time in Michigan, Randy worked as a teacher, dean, assistant principal/director of teaching and learning, and a high school principal.. In each of these roles, Randy has worked hard to foster collaborative relationships within the schools and communities and is excited to continue to do so at OESU. Randy and his wife Leah have two kids, Sophia and Sam, who both attend Dartmouth College, so they are excited to be closer both to their children and their extended family in New England.
Randy will replace Bruce Williams who has served as the Assistant Superintendent since July 2018 when he filled the vacant Assistant Superintendent position on a one-year interim basis (and stayed three) to assist with the merging of OESU and Blue Mountain Supervisory Union and the Act 46 merger which created the Oxbow Unified Union School District. Bruce will be officially retiring on June 30, 2021.
